Boxing Day 2004 saw the deadliest recorded tsunami of all time hit the coast of South East Asia.

Nat Geo’s Tsunami: A Race Against Time, sets out to tell unheard stories from the people who were caught up in the devastating natural disaster, with many sharing their experiences for the very first time. With such distressing subject matter, the main priority was to enable the survivors, scientists, journalists and rescuers to tell their stories in an accurate and sensitive way. Sharing stories of loss, but also of hope, of those who helped in the rescue effort.

We created titles and content graphics in the form of data driven tsunami wave maps, which acted as a narrative driver. Real life data was used to create the wave, enabling the audience to visually see the tsunami’s movement and impact across the region.
